A mother has been lauded as a hero for her life-saving actions after a teenage soccer player collapsed during a match in Sydney last weekend. Davina Hall, an off-duty paramedic, was at Lynwood Park near Campbelltown on Sunday to watch her daughter's game when a player from the Macarthur Rams under-18s team suffered a medical episode on the field.

Hall, along with two Macarthur Rams physios, Raynen and Dennis, immediately responded to the collapsed player and began performing CPR. Her critical intervention helped maintain the teenager's vital functions until emergency medical services arrived. The player was then transported to Westmead Children's Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition but is reportedly making progress.

The Western Sydney Wanderers NPLW under-18s game against Macarthur was abandoned due to the distressing circumstances. The Macarthur Rams issued a statement on Monday evening expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support.

"The Macarthur Rams family would like to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming support, prayers and well wishes shown over the past 24 hours following one of our players' critical medical episodes," the club stated on Instagram. "We are grateful to share that she is now awake and breathing on her own. While this is a very positive step forward, she is still not out of the woods, and we kindly ask that you continue to keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers."

Social media users and community members online have praised Hall for her quick thinking and composure in a critical situation. Online comments commended her "incredible response and composure" and called her a "superstar" and an "angel."

This incident follows a similar event in April where a 32-year-old man collapsed during a game at View Street grounds in Sydney's northwest. Despite over 30 minutes of resuscitation attempts by witnesses until paramedics arrived, the man was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition and later died.
