Harry Kane Open to NFL Kicking Career Alongside MLS Stint

English soccer star Harry Kane has expressed interest in pursuing a career as an NFL placekicker, potentially alongside playing in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. Kane described the idea of becoming a two-sport athlete as "a lot more realistic" than a previous consideration of playing professional golf.

Kane recently discussed his future plans, indicating that while he is focused on his current soccer career, he has a long-term vision that could include American football. "The NFL is a lot more realistic than the golf one, let's put it that way," he told The Athletic when asked about potential career shifts.

The possibility of combining an MLS career with kicking in the NFL emerged as a new consideration. Kane suggested that if he were to play in the MLS in the future, the differing seasons between the two sports could allow for him to participate in both. "Maybe if I am in the MLS in the future or somewhere like that it might be a thing where you could connect the two, with the seasons," he said.

While Kane acknowledged that his immediate focus remains on his soccer career and fulfilling his current contract, he keeps the idea of a dual-sport role in mind. He stated, "But it is in the back of my mind because right now, I am feeling that I want to play as long as I can here."

The prospect of Kane, known for his powerful kicking ability in soccer, transitioning to placekicking in the NFL has been met with interest, with some noting his leg strength could translate to the gridiron if he masters the specific mechanics of American football kicking. The idea also revives the notion of two-sport professional athletes, a phenomenon less common in modern sports.

Kane is reportedly close to re-signing with his current club, Bayern Munich, suggesting his immediate future remains in European soccer. However, his openness to future possibilities in American sports has captured attention as his career progresses.
