Harry Kane England's Best Ever, Says Bellingham After Historic Night
Jude Bellingham lauded captain Harry Kane as England's greatest player after his record-equalling 125th cap was celebrated with a brace.
Jude Bellingham has declared Harry Kane as England's greatest-ever player, praising the striker's unmatched global level following his historic 125th appearance for the Three Lions. Kane marked the milestone with two goals against the Czech Republic, continuing his prolific scoring record for the national team.
"We're running out of superlatives," Bellingham stated. "He is the best England player that has ever worn the shirt and it is an honour to play with him. He is playing at a level which is pretty unmatched when you look across the world."
Bellingham highlighted Kane's versatility, noting his contributions beyond just scoring. "He is scoring goals for fun. He is still dropping in deep and delivering those passes in behind and wide and contributing in so many areas of the pitch and getting back as well with tackles. And he is only getting better."
Kane, who also equaled Peter Shilton's record of 125 caps, expressed that reaching this stage was beyond his wildest dreams. With 91 goals for England, he remains focused on improving and extending his record, rather than fixating on a specific number. "I hope not [to have reached my ceiling]," Kane said. "I hope there's still more to go. I guess only time dictates that. I still feel like I've got room to improve."
He added that while he is approaching the 100-goal mark, he is taking a game-by-game approach. "I try not to think about it too much. It's like being a cricketer in the nineties – the more you think about the 100, you don't always get there. I'm just going with the flow right now."
Despite his personal achievements, Kane emphasized his desire to win a major trophy with England. "For sure," he said when asked if he would swap his records for a title. "Without a doubt. I'd swap all that to win something with England."
Manager Thomas Tuchel also commended Kane's performance. "Brilliant. He deserves this stage. He deserves the praise."
Kane's brace against the Czech Republic, which followed earlier international fixtures including a 7-0 win over Croatia and a 3-2 loss to Spain, underscored his consistent impact on the team. He became the oldest player to score consecutive braces in competitive fixtures for England at 33 years old.
