Harry Kane, the England captain, celebrated his recent Ballon d'Or win with a private gathering at a London nightclub, accompanied by his wife, Kate, and his mother, Kim.
The footballer, who recently transferred from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich for a reported £100 million, was presented with the award by Brazilian legend Ronaldo at the London Palladium. His speech, lasting nearly nine minutes, included heartfelt tributes to his parents for their sacrifices and support throughout his career, and to his wife, Kate, for her unwavering encouragement.
"To my wife, Kate, my best friend," Kane stated. "You're my biggest supporter. You always want the best for me, you sacrifice yourself to help me achieve my dreams... it wouldn't be possible without you."
Kane acknowledged his England teammates and former coaches, including Jose Mourinho and Harry Redknapp, as well as his current Bayern Munich manager, Vincent Kompany. He also emphasized the importance of hard work, resilience, determination, and self-belief for aspiring young athletes.
His parents, Kim and Patrick, who are both in their 60s, also attended the celebration at Cirque Le Soir in Soho. Friends describe the Kanes as immensely proud and down-to-earth individuals.
Kane, 33, met his wife Kate when they were both nine years old. The couple married in 2019 and have four children: daughters Ivy and Vivienne, and sons Louis and Henry.
The footballer's humble demeanor and heartfelt speech after receiving the award garnered widespread praise on social media. Following his success, there has been speculation about a potential knighthood for Kane, which the Prime Minister has not ruled out.
