English gymnast Gabriel Langton was hospitalized on Friday after a severe fall during his high bar routine at the Commonwealth Games. The 18-year-old athlete missed a grab and landed in a dangerous position, falling on his head and neck. He remained on the ground until medical personnel attended to him.

Paramedics placed Langton in a neck brace before he was taken away on a stretcher. Team officials reported that Langton was conscious and communicating with doctors following the incident. "We are grateful to the medical teams who responded immediately to provide assistance," a spokesperson stated. "He has been taken to hospital and we will share more information when it is available."

Langton's teammate, Luke Whitehouse, described the impact of the scene on the rest of the English squad. "It was really tough," Whitehouse said. "We just had to reset, try to put it to one side mentally and focus on the job we had to do. I think everyone should be proud of the way we carried on after Gabe’s fall."

Despite the incident, Whitehouse and his teammates rallied to secure the silver medal in the competition, finishing behind Canada. Australia took the bronze medal.

Langton is a decorated gymnast, holding five medals from the European Championships and having won the British U-18 all-around championship in 2024.
