Fenerbahce midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has received a four-match European ban and a 50,000 euro fine after a brawl that occurred following a Champions League play-off win against Lyon. The incident saw tempers flare between players from both Fenerbahce and Lyon.

During the match, Guendouzi, who previously played for Marseille, was a target of boos from Lyon supporters. Post-game, Guendouzi appeared to taunt sections of the home crowd, referencing his former club Marseille by shouting "Allez l'OM" towards a pitchside camera. This action led to a scuffle, with teammates attempting to de-escalate the situation. Security personnel and members of both teams became involved in a melee that extended into the tunnel.

Guendouzi stated after the game that he felt "disrespected" by the Lyon fans, citing "insults" directed at his family. He expressed disappointment with the inability to celebrate freely after a victory, noting that the taunts included his family members. Guendouzi suggested that in such situations, crowd behavior should be addressed by officials, implying that a lack of intervention contributed to the escalating tensions.
