The Cleveland Guardians are scheduled to play the Miami Marlins on Friday. This matchup comes as veteran pitcher Justin Verlander, a two-time World Series champion and three-time Cy Young Award winner, is reportedly nearing the end of his career and is expected to retire after the current season. Verlander's illustrious career includes an MVP award in 2011 and 10 All-Star selections.
In Friday's game, the Marlins will start pitcher Sandy Alcantara, who recently secured his seventh consecutive win. The Guardians will counter with Parker Messick.
In other recent MLB action, the Atlanta Braves defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-5. The game saw multiple home runs from both teams, with Mike Yastrzemski hitting a grand slam for the Braves that secured their victory. Braves pitcher Bryce Elder gave up three home runs during the contest.
