Guardians Halt White Sox Postseason Push with Game 3 Victory

The Cleveland Guardians kept their American League Division Series hopes alive Thursday, defeating the Chicago White Sox 7-3 at Rate Field and denying the home team a chance to clinch the series. The win forced a Game 4 and extended the Guardians' postseason journey, marking their first potential ALCS appearance since 2005.

The White Sox, who entered Game 3 with a 2-0 series lead, initially took the lead in the first inning when catcher Kyle Teel hit a double that drove in the game's first run. However, Cleveland's offense found its stride, tallying 11 hits in the contest. This offensive output marked a significant turnaround from the first two games of the series, where the Guardians had struggled, managing only three runs and seven hits combined.

Cleveland recorded two triples in Game 3, a feat not achieved by the franchise in postseason play since 1906. Players contributing multiple hits included Jo Adell, José Ramírez, Steven Kwan, and Brayan Rocchio. Ramírez, Kwan, and Chase DeLauter were seen celebrating a scoring opportunity for the Guardians.

Wednesday's game was Chicago's first home playoff contest since 2021. The White Sox had experienced a significant rebuilding period, having lost a combined 324 games over the preceding three seasons. The franchise's last home postseason series clinch dates back to the 1906 World Series.
