Guardians Aim to Extend ALCS Lead Over Rays in Game 4
Cleveland holds a 2-1 series advantage and can move within one win of the World Series with a victory on October 16.
The American League Championship Series (ALCS) continues tonight, October 16, with Game 4 between the Cleveland Guardians and the Tampa Bay Rays. The Guardians currently lead the best-of-seven series 2-1 after a 3-2 victory in Game 3. A win in Game 4 would place Cleveland two games away from advancing to the World Series. The Rays, facing a potential 3-1 deficit, will be looking to even the series.
Game 4 is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TBS. For viewers without cable, the game can be streamed live via a five-day free trial of DIRECTV.
In Game 3, the Guardians took an early lead with a double by José Ramírez, and Petey Halpin's fifth-inning two-run homer proved to be the deciding factor. The Rays' offense will need to perform better in Game 4, with key players like Junior Caminero and Yandy Díaz needing to break out of their slumps to support the team's pitching.
The scheduled starting pitchers for Game 4 are Nick Martinez for the Rays, who had a 15-6 record with a 3.10 ERA, and Shawn Armstrong for the Guardians, with a 2-1 record and a 4.58 ERA.
The ALCS schedule is as follows:
Game 1: Guardians 7, Rays 3 Game 2: Rays 3, Guardians 1 Game 3: Guardians 3, Rays 2 Game 4: Oct. 16, 8 p.m. ET (TBS) Game 5: Oct. 17, 8 p.m. ET (TBS) Game 6: Oct. 19, 5 p.m. ET (TBS)* Game 7: Oct. 20, 8 p.m. ET (TBS)* *if necessary
