Green Bay Packers fans have expressed widespread calls for the immediate dismissal of head coach Matt LaFleur following a demoralizing 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football. The defeat at Lambeau Field marks the Packers' second loss of the season, further fueling fan discontent.
Despite entering the game as favorites, the Packers were outplayed on both sides of the ball. Social media platforms saw an outpouring of frustration, with many fans demanding LaFleur's termination. "If the Packers are serious Matt LaFleur is fired TONIGHT," one user wrote on X. Another commented, "This team has thrown in the towel. LaFleur must be fired. #packers."
Former NFL player Emmanuel Acho also weighed in on LaFleur's performance, stating on his YouTube show 'Speakeasy' that the coach has "peaked with the Green Bay Packers" and questioned the team's improvement under his leadership over the past year and a half.
The game began with a promising start for Green Bay, as they intercepted Michael Penix Jr. early, leading to a Christian Watson touchdown. However, this early success was short-lived. The Falcons responded by scoring 27 unanswered points, while the Packers' offense struggled to gain traction. The Green Bay backfield was notably ineffective, managing only 17 rushing yards throughout the game, with Marshawn Lloyd and Kaleb Johnson largely contained by the Falcons' defense.
In contrast, the Falcons displayed a cohesive offensive unit. Their ground game proved particularly dominant against the Packers' defense, accumulating 244 rushing yards. Bijan Robinson led the charge for Atlanta with 194 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries, supported by Brian Robinson's 50 yards and a score.
The loss drops the Packers' record to 1-2 on the season. This follows a Week 1 blowout defeat to the Minnesota Vikings and a narrow overtime victory against the New York Jets in Week 2, a game marked by numerous penalties for Green Bay.
