Gotham FC Rookie Jordynn Dudley Out for Season with Foot Fracture
The promising young forward's impactful rookie campaign is cut short by injury sustained in training.
Jordynn Dudley, a standout rookie for Gotham FC, will miss the remainder of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) season due to a foot fracture. The injury occurred during training earlier this month, the club announced.
Dudley, who had been a strong contender for Rookie of the Year after being named Rookie of the Month twice, sustained the injury prior to Gotham's October 4th match against Angel City FC, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The 21-year-old has recorded five goals and three assists in 26 appearances across all competitions this season.
“We’re disappointed for Jordynn after the outstanding rookie season she has had,” Gotham president of soccer operations Yael Averbuch West said in a statement. “She made an impact all over the field and played an important role in our push for the NWSL Shield and strong finish to the 2026 campaign. We’ll support Jordynn throughout her recovery and do everything we can to help her return healthy for next season.”
Dudley’s performance had also garnered attention from U.S. Women's National Team head coach Emma Hayes, leading to her selection for a U-23 camp. However, the injury forced her replacement on that roster.
Gotham FC head coach Juan Carlos Amorós had initially described the injury as Dudley getting “a little bit hurt on her foot.” He had praised Dudley as Gotham’s “rookie of the year here” and expressed the club's pride in her accomplishments this year.
Dudley joined Gotham FC this year, forgoing her final season of college eligibility at Florida State. She was widely regarded as one of the top prospects entering the professional ranks.
