Glasgow is set to host a scaled-back version of the Commonwealth Games in 2026, following an agreement backed by the Scottish government in September 2024. The decision comes after the 2026 edition's future was cast into doubt.

The event will utilize four venues situated within an eight-mile radius: Scotstoun Stadium, Tollcross International Swimming Centre, Glasgow International Arena, and the Scottish Event Campus (SEC). This contrasts with the 2014 Glasgow Games, which had a budget of £543 million.

The upcoming Games will cost £150 million in total, with no public money being spent. The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) is contributing £100 million, with the remaining funds generated from commercial activities such as ticketing, sponsorship, broadcast rights, and merchandise.

Athletes from 74 countries and territories are expected to compete for 215 gold medals over 10 days. Athletics, cycling, and swimming are reported as the most popular sports, though tickets remain available for many events.
