The New York Giants have signed quarterback Jake Haener, adding depth to their roster. Haener, a fourth-round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2023, brings a new option to the team's quarterback position.

Haener played collegiately at Fresno State before his time in New Orleans. During his three seasons with the Saints, he saw limited opportunities, appearing in eight games. His most significant playing time came in a 2024 loss to the Chargers, where he completed 9 of 17 passes for 122 yards, with one touchdown and one interception in his career.

Prior to joining the Giants, Haener signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in February but was released in May. The 27-year-old quarterback could potentially compete for the third-string quarterback position behind Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston.

His signing fills the roster spot vacated by the retirement of cornerback Sam Webb, who had recently joined the team. Haener is expected to see playing time in the Giants' final two preseason games, beginning with Saturday's matchup against the Dolphins in Miami.
