The New York Giants, despite being on a bye week, emerged as significant winners in Week 8 of the NFL season. Their lead in the NFC East expanded as rivals Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles both suffered defeats. The Giants now stand at 4-2-1 on the season, while the Cowboys have fallen to 3-5 and the Eagles are in last place at 2-6 after a sixth consecutive loss.

Dallas collapsed against the Arizona Cardinals, with the Cardinals’ offense finding success after Gardner Minshew replaced starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett. The Eagles' struggles continued without injured quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is out for the season with blood clots. Under backup Tanner McKee, Philadelphia is 0-3 and has been outscored 90-45 during this stretch.

Despite season-ending injuries to quarterback Jaxson Dart and edge rusher Brian Burns earlier in the season, the Giants, under first-year coach John Harbaugh, are in a strong position within the division. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy, acquired from the Vikings in late September, has reportedly made a positive impact since taking over.

The Giants are set to visit the struggling Eagles next, followed by a home game against the Commanders on Thursday Night Football.
