Giants' Kicking Unit Shows Early Promise Ahead of Challenging Weather

The New York Giants' kicking operation is demonstrating encouraging results early in the season, with rookie kicker Dominic Zvada and punter Jordan Stout both displaying strong performances.

Through the first two games, Zvada has successfully converted all his extra-point attempts. In the second game, he connected on a 24-yard field goal and a 52-yarder, accounting for all of his team's points in a loss to the Rams. Special teams coordinator Chris Horton noted Zvada's confidence, stating, "He does not lack confidence... And I think when you get young guys, sometimes they just have to go out there and they have to do it, right? And they have to do it enough for them to be like, you know what, I belong. And he belongs."

Despite going undrafted, Zvada has shown flashes of potential. While he had one kickoff go for a touchback in a recent game, the coaching staff aims to put the ball in play strategically. "I think he was a little excited, but we want to cover kicks,'' Horton said. "If we can, we want to put the ball in play to kill some time there."

Punter Jordan Stout has also been a standout, living up to his reputation as one of the league's top punters. After a quiet Week 1 due to the offense's efficiency, Stout was called upon six times against the Rams, averaging 52.5 yards per punt. One of his kicks traveled 78 yards, pinning the Rams at their own 25-yard line.

As the Giants prepare to face the Titans at MetLife Stadium, they anticipate challenging conditions with potential wind and rain. Horton acknowledged the impact of the weather but emphasized the team's preparation. "We can’t replicate the weather, but what we can do is trust our process,'' Horton said. "And that process has taken us up until this point. And as we get out there pregame, we’ll kind of see what the weather’s doing."

The team's ability to execute in potentially adverse conditions could prove vital, especially in games that may come down to a single kick.
