Cricketer Georgia Voll has returned to Australia, arriving back on home soil this week amidst a widely publicized cheating scandal involving her relationship with Australian vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner.
Voll, 21, was seen on Thursday walking along Brisbane River in Newstead, accompanied by fellow cricketer Caitlin Mair. She maintained a low profile, dressed in a black hoodie and a white baseball cap.
It is understood Voll arrived in Australia on Wednesday after concluding her season in the UK with the Welsh Fire team. She is expected to rejoin the Sandgate-Redcliffe Gators for upcoming matches, potentially as early as Thursday night.
The controversy erupted weeks ago when reports detailed the relationship between Gardner and Voll. These allegations led to strong criticism from Gardner's estranged wife, Monica Wright.
Wright publicly accused Gardner of infidelity, sharing a photo of Voll on Instagram and stating, "This is who my wife cheated on me with." This claim was widely shared across social media and reported by various media outlets, reaching a global audience.
According to reports, the relationship between Gardner and Wright began to deteriorate after the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in India. A source indicated that Gardner seemed uncharacteristically off during the tour when Wright visited, with the situation becoming more apparent upon their return to their Northern Beaches home. Gardner reportedly confessed to Wright that she had been having an affair, a revelation that left Wright reportedly devastated. The couple had reportedly been discussing starting a family and had plans to visit a fertility clinic.
Gardner is reported to have moved out of the home she shared with Wright in November, leaving behind their wedding rings. The breakdown of Gardner's marriage reportedly caused distress among some Southern Stars players, with whom Wright had a close relationship.
Cricket Australia's National Selection Panel was reportedly informed of the marriage breakdown in November when Gardner was appointed captain of the Sydney Sixers, shortly after her split from Wright. She was later appointed co-vice-captain of the national team.
Gardner and Wright met on a dating app in 2020 and became engaged in April 2024, with their wedding taking place in April 2025. Cricket Australia declined to comment on the matter when approached by The Daily Mail.
