Georgia Takes Top Spot in AP Poll After Upset-Filled Week 6
The Bulldogs climb to No. 1 following their victory over Alabama, while several other ranked teams faltered.
Georgia has ascended to the No. 1 position in the Week 6 AP Top 25 college football poll, fueled by a significant upset victory against Alabama. The dramatic shifts in the rankings reflect a weekend filled with unexpected outcomes across the nation.
Texas, which had held the top ranking since Week 2, dropped six spots to No. 7 after an upset loss to unranked Oklahoma. Alabama, despite its loss to Georgia, maintained a strong position at No. 6 in the rankings.
Among the biggest movers in the latest poll, Kentucky surged from unranked to No. 15 after defeating LSU in overtime. LSU, consequently, fell 12 spots to No. 22.
Northwestern, Wake Forest, and Kentucky all entered the Top 25 this week. Conversely, Oregon and Florida, both ranked in the Top 16 in Week 5, exited the poll after suffering losses to UCLA and South Carolina, respectively.
Notre Dame moves into the No. 2 spot and faces its first major test of the season in Week 7 when it travels to play No. 8 BYU. Other key matchups in Week 7 include No. 4 Ohio State at No. 5 Indiana, No. 9 Ole Miss hosting No. 13 Missouri, and No. 6 Alabama visiting No. 14 Tennessee.
