Formula One driver George Russell has announced his engagement to his long-term girlfriend, Carmen Mundt. The Mercedes racer shared the news on social media, posting images of a candlelit proposal that took place during an island vacation. The official Formula One account was among the first to congratulate the couple.

The couple, who have been together since 2020, became engaged after Russell hinted at marriage plans in June. He had stated at the time that he hoped to be married within five years. Russell previously described Mundt as his "future" and credited her with providing stability and a way to disconnect from his demanding career.

He told The Times that Mundt supports him mentally and is invested in his racing achievements, calling himself fortunate to have her. In March, he elaborated on her support, noting how she adjusted her schedule to match his when he was racing in Melbourne.

Russell and Mundt met six years ago by chance when she was scheduled to meet a friend of his. Mundt, a Spanish businesswoman, had moved to London at 18 to study business management and finance. She has since quit her financial job to live with Russell in Monaco and frequently attends his races.
