Fury's Uncle Joins Joshua's Camp Ahead of December Showdown

Anthony Joshua has revealed that Tyson Fury's uncle, Peter Fury, has joined his training camp in preparation for their major fight in Cardiff in December.

The announcement came during a press conference that generated significant attention, marking a surprising turn of events.

Peter Fury, an uncle of the heavyweight champion, is now advising Joshua on strategy to counter Tyson Fury's tactics. This development adds an intriguing dynamic, particularly given the strong loyalties often found within traveller families.

Tyson Fury commented on his uncle's involvement, stating, "I haven't spoken to him for years."

Additionally, Joshua reportedly took a substantial pay cut, described by promoter Eddie Hearn as "twelve figures"—at least £10 million—to ensure the "Battle of Britain" takes place in Cardiff rather than New York.

Joshua also confirmed that former trainer of Tyson Fury, Ben Davison, has joined his team. "Ben's pinpointing details which will make the difference on the night," Joshua said.

Fury responded to this by remarking, "Ben can’t put muscles on that suspect chin," referencing Davison's recent time in Las Vegas where he oversaw Conor Benn's loss to Ryan Garcia.

Despite the personal rivalries, the press conference featured amicable exchanges rather than the usual theatrics associated with Tyson Fury's appearances. Fury himself described the upcoming bout as "probably the greatest fight boxing’s ever seen if you factor in the commercial aspect."

The fight, which has been 12 years in the making, will see a US$150 million purse split equally between the two boxers.

"Both of us want to do British boxing proud," Joshua stated.
