Frank Lampard has signed a new three-year contract with Coventry City, extending his tenure as manager until 2029. The deal provides a significant boost to the club as they prepare for their return to the Premier League after a 25-year absence.

Speculation surrounding Lampard's future had linked him with other clubs, including Crystal Palace and Fulham, but the former Chelsea and England midfielder has now committed to Coventry. The new agreement aims to maintain the momentum built during his successful tenure.

"There’s a lot of work to do on and off the pitch as a football club, so those things have been ongoing," Lampard stated. "I’m looking forward to getting back with the players, to see them all and get ready for the new season. The spirit and togetherness we created last year was something great to be part of and now we want to continue it."

He also expressed gratitude to owner Doug King for his support. "Thank you to Doug King as well for giving me the opportunity to come to this football club and for his support of us. We work together and we know there’s a lot to do but we’re going to give it everything."

Coventry owner Doug King highlighted the club's upward trajectory under Lampard's leadership since he took charge in November 2024. "Since arriving in November 2024, our club has been on a huge upward trajectory under his leadership and it is absolutely fitting after Championship glory last season that he leads us into our first Premier League season for a generation,” King said.

Lampard joined Coventry when they were 17th in the Championship and guided them to the play-offs in his first campaign. In his first full season, he led the team to the Championship title. Across his 82 matches in charge, Coventry has secured 45 wins. The team has already added midfielder Frank Onyeka from Brentford, with Lampard expected to seek further squad reinforcements.
