Francesca Jones achieved the only win for Great Britain at the US Open on a day marked by rain delays and early exits for her compatriots. Jones secured a hard-fought three-set victory against Magda Linette, marking her first win at the tournament.
The match, which had been delayed by rain and resumed nearly 17 hours later, saw Jones initially struggle after the interruption. She lost the second set to Linette, a Polish veteran, 6-1 after winning the first 6-4. However, Jones regrouped in the third set, securing an early break and ultimately winning the match 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 after a successful video review challenged an accusation that the ball had bounced twice.

In contrast to Jones' success, British No. 1 Katie Boulter experienced a significant defeat, losing 6-1, 6-0 to the seventh seed Karolina Muchova. Boulter, ranked world No. 62, struggled to find her form against the Wimbledon finalist, with the match being moved to an indoor court due to the rain. Boulter acknowledged that the atmosphere and noise of the show court affected her performance more than usual.
Jan Choinski's first-round match was also affected by rain, pushing his start time back. He was ultimately defeated by Botic van de Zandschulp with a score of 6-3, 6-1, 7-6(5). Jacob Fearnley also exited the tournament, falling to Tomas Martin Etcheverry in four sets: 3-6, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6.
