U.S. track icon Alvin Harrison was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop in Los Angeles on Monday night. Burbank Police Department officers pulled over the 52-year-old former Olympic sprinter shortly before 11 PM after observing his vehicle fail to stop at a sign. Authorities noted signs of impairment and took Harrison into custody for a DUI.

During the stop, a background check revealed that Harrison had three outstanding misdemeanor warrants. He was transported to a local jail and has been held without bail for four days due to these warrants. Harrison is scheduled to appear before a judge in mid-July.

During his competitive career, Harrison was a prominent 400-meter sprinter. He won an Olympic gold medal as part of the U.S. 4x400-meter relay team at the 1996 Atlanta Games. He later secured an individual silver medal in the 400-meter event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Harrison also made history with his twin brother, Calvin Harrison, as the first twins to win gold together on the same Olympic relay team. He was later inducted into the athletic Hall of Fame at Hartnell College.
