Former Dodgers Pitcher Alex Wood Dismisses Ohtani Drama, Predicts Home Run

Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood has dismissed the growing concerns surrounding Shohei Ohtani's performance in the National League Championship Series, predicting the superstar will rebound.

Ohtani, a four-time MVP, has faced scrutiny for his offensive struggles during the postseason, including an 0-for-4 performance with two strikeouts in Game 2 of the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers. Despite these struggles and reported injuries, Ohtani is expected to be in the lineup for Game 3.

Wood, who retired in 2025 after two stints with the Dodgers and won a World Series with the team, took to social media to voice his opinion. "All this Ohtani and being in the lineup nonsense lol. Bet he homers at least once tomorrow," Wood posted on X.

Wood pitched for the Dodgers from 2015 to 2018 and returned in 2020, contributing to their World Series championship. Although his time with the team predates Ohtani's arrival, Wood expressed confidence in Ohtani's ability to perform under pressure.

The Dodgers are currently trailing the Brewers two games to none in the NLCS. The team is facing elimination, making Wednesday's Game 3 a critical matchup as they aim to extend their season and pursue a championship.
