LIV Golf player Charl Schwartzel experienced an unusual setback during a recent tournament at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, when a fish swallowed his golf ball. The incident occurred on the par-three 17th hole as Schwartzel's shot landed near a water hazard.

Before Schwartzel could retrieve his ball, a fish emerged from the water and consumed it. This unexpected event led to Schwartzel being issued a one-stroke penalty for a lost ball. He subsequently finished the 134-yard hole with a bogey.

Schwartzel, a 41-year-old South African and the 2011 Masters champion, ultimately finished the tournament tied for 22nd place at +2. The event was won by Joaquin Niemann, who finished at -16.

Former President Donald Trump was in attendance for the final round of the LIV Golf event held at one of his courses. Trump, 80, reportedly carded a score of 70 to win another club championship at the Bedminster course the week prior. The course's par is 72, meaning Trump allegedly finished two strokes under par.

Trump had previously shared footage and details of his club championship victory on social media, attributing his win to "TALENT." The reported 70 followed a scorecard published by the White House the previous year, which claimed Trump had achieved a 3-under 69 at the same annual tournament in 2025, winning by 10 strokes.
