Spain's Ferran Torres, the forward who scored the decisive goal in the World Cup Final on Sunday, was reportedly going through a personal breakup around the time of the tournament's crucial stages.

According to Spanish TV journalist Javi de Hoyos, Torres and his girlfriend, Martina Hunter Alguero, decided to end their relationship before Spain's quarterfinal victory over Belgium on July 9. De Hoyos stated on Instagram that he had spoken with individuals close to both parties who confirmed the relationship's end.

"I have spoken with people close to both of them, and they confirm that the romance is over, at least for now. Ferran is currently enjoying being single at the World Cup," de Hoyos was quoted as saying.

De Hoyos also reported that Torres and Alguero had recently been seen together at parties in Ibiza, Spain, though they were not an official couple. He was also credited with initially breaking the news of their involvement.

Alguero recently completed a trip to Bali, as indicated by her social media activity, suggesting she was not in Spain to celebrate the team's World Cup triumph. A blonde woman wearing a red bra and light purple corset looks out of frame.

Torres' goal in the 106th minute of the World Cup Final secured Spain's victory against Argentina. The 26-year-old forward's performance has cemented his status as a national hero and, according to the report, one of the country's most eligible bachelors.
