Bruno Fernandes has been named the PFA Players' Player of the Year for the 2025-26 campaign, a season in which the Manchester United captain also set a new Premier League record for assists.
Fernandes surpassed the previous record of 20 assists, jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, on the final day of the season. He registered his 21st assist by setting up Patrick Dorgu's header in a match against Brighton.
This latest accolade follows his earlier wins for Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year. Fernandes received the player-voted PFA award at Manchester's Opera House on Tuesday evening. He is the first Manchester United player to win the PFA Players' Player of the Year award since Wayne Rooney in 2010.
PFA Team of the Year
Fernandes was the sole representative from Manchester United in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year. He was joined in the select XI by Brentford's Igor Thiago as the only other players not from Manchester City or Arsenal. The team featured a strong contingent from Arsenal, including David Raya, Gabriel, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber, and Declan Rice. Manchester City's representatives were Nico O'Reilly, Rayan Cherki, Antoine Semenyo, and Erling Haaland.
Mohamed Salah, the PFA Players' Player of the Year in the previous season, was not included in this year's selections. No Liverpool players made the cut for the 2025-26 PFA Team of the Year.
Youth and Domestic Awards
Nico O'Reilly of Manchester City also received the Men's Young Player of the Year award. He was recognized ahead of his teammate Rayan Cherki and other nominees Max Dowman, Junior Kroupi, Kobbie Mainoo, and Rio Ngumoha.
In other awards, Hayden Hackney of Everton was named the Championship Player of the Year. He was instrumental in Middlesbrough's advancement to the play-off final in May. Dom Ballard earned the League One title award for his performance with Leyton Orient, while Swindon's Aaron Drinan took home the League Two award.
Women's Awards
Bunny Shaw of Manchester City secured the Women's Players' Player of the Year award for the second time, having previously won it in 2024. She joins Lucy Bronze and Fran Kirby as the only players to have won the award twice.
Shaw was the Women's Super League (WSL) Golden Boot winner last season, scoring 21 goals in 22 matches, and was crucial in her team's league title win. Other nominees for the women's top prize included Manchester City teammate Yui Hasegawa, Chelsea's Lauren James, Manchester United's Jess Park, Arsenal's Alessia Russo, and Aston Villa's Kirsty Hanson.
The PFA WSL Team of the Year included Hannah Hampton, Kerstin Casparij, Toko Koga, Ellie Carpenter, and Emily Fox. Arsenal's Olivia Smith was named the Young Player of the Year in the women's game. The 22-year-old Canada international became the first woman player to surpass a seven-figure transfer fee when Arsenal signed her for £1 million last summer. She recorded five goals and three assists during the campaign.
