Fermín López described his summer as the "worst of his life" after an injury prevented him from participating in Spain's World Cup victory. The 23-year-old midfielder stated he required professional support to manage the heartbreak of missing the tournament while he felt he was at his physical peak.

López revealed in an interview with Catalunya Radio that the emotional impact of his exclusion was so severe he initially could not watch the World Cup matches. "I couldn't. I wanted to be there at the World Cup," he said. "Let me make it clear that it made me very happy to see my teammates win the World Cup."

He added that he eventually felt better towards the end of the tournament and decided to attend the final in New York. López acknowledged the crucial role of his support system, including his family, partner, and friends, in helping him overcome the setback. He also noted the assistance provided by his coach.

Having undergone months of rehabilitation, López is now training with Hansi Flick's squad in the United Kingdom and focusing on regaining match fitness. He expressed optimism about his current physical condition and hopes to play a few minutes in the Joan Gamper Trophy match.

"I'm feeling better every day. I have no discomfort, which is important," López stated. "The intention is to come back from this injury with even more motivation. I think I'm very ready. I've already shown how I can help Barça, and I have to continue doing the same next season."

Looking ahead to the new season with Barcelona, López expressed the team's shared ambition to win the Champions League. "We've closed the last two years. This season could be a good one. We've been playing together for three years and have experienced a lot. I feel we're ready to win the Champions League," he said. He also acknowledged the difficulty of winning a third consecutive league title but believes the team can achieve it if they remain focused and united.
