Former UFC fighter and current ESPN analyst Anthony Smith, 38, was arrested in Nebraska on Monday night and is facing three felony charges, according to jail records. The charges include terroristic threats, false imprisonment in the first degree, and domestic violence causing serious bodily injury.

Smith, who retired from the UFC in 2025 with a professional record of 38-22, is being held at the Sarpy County Jail. As of Tuesday, bond had not yet been set. A mugshot released by authorities shows Smith in an orange inmate jumpsuit.

Details regarding the specific events leading to the arrest or the identity of the alleged victim have not been released. The charge of domestic violence causing serious bodily injury alone carries a potential 20-year prison sentence upon conviction.

This is not the first time Smith has been involved in an incident outside the cage. In 2020, he confronted an intruder in his Nebraska home. Smith recounted that his wife woke him at 4 a.m. to alert him to the intruder. He engaged the intruder in a fight for approximately five minutes until law enforcement arrived. Smith described the encounter as one of the most difficult fights of his life, noting the intruder's resilience despite not being a trained fighter.
