ESPN has named Jason McCourty, a former NFL player and current television analyst, to join the "Monday Night Countdown" pregame show. McCourty will take over the role previously held by Ryan Clark, who was dismissed from the network in July.
McCourty, who previously worked on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" before joining ESPN, has expanded his responsibilities within the network over the past two years. He has made appearances on shows such as "Get Up," "First Take," "SportsCenter," and "NFL Live."
Clark's departure marks the conclusion of his involvement with "Monday Night Countdown." He will continue to be part of the "NFL Live" team, alongside McCourty, Mina Kimes, and Marcus Spears, among other regular contributors.
The upcoming NFL season will see "Monday Night Countdown" debut on September 14 with the matchup between the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes is expected to play in this game, having begun training camp without limitations after sustaining an ACL tear last season.
McCourty played 13 seasons in the NFL, with stints on the Titans, Browns, Patriots, and Dolphins. He played college football at Rutgers with his twin brother, Devin McCourty.
