ESPN Announcer's Hot Mic Comment Compares QB to Disappointing Hotel Breakfast
Play-by-play announcer Tom Hart made the remark about UNC's Billy Edwards Jr. during the Tar Heels' game against Pitt.
ESPN play-by-play announcer Tom Hart was caught on a hot mic comparing University of North Carolina quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. to a "lousy hotel breakfast" during the Tar Heels' game against undefeated Pittsburgh on Saturday. The comment was made to analyst Roddy Jones.
Edwards and the Tar Heels secured a 21-17 upset victory over Pitt. However, prior to the win, Hart's criticism of Edwards' performance was audible.
"Our hotel breakfast was the Billy Edwards Jr. of hotel breakfasts," Hart said, unaware his microphone was active. The remark has drawn attention for its unusual comparison, suggesting a lackluster or disappointing performance.
Edwards has led UNC to a 2-2 record this season. The team had started with a 2-0 record before facing challenges later in the season.
