Erin Andrews Recounts
The Fox Sports sideline reporter described a chaotic sequence of events during a recent NFL halftime report that left her flustered and breathless.
Fox Sports sideline reporter Erin Andrews described a recent halftime report during the Green Bay Packers-Detroit Lions game as a "disaster" due to a rushed timeline and logistical challenges at Ford Field.
Andrews, speaking on her "Calm Down" podcast with co-host Charissa Thompson, explained that a lengthy ramp from the locker room to the broadcast area at Ford Field significantly cut into her preparation time following an interview with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.
"I had only about one minute before I got back on air," Andrews recalled. "I'm like, 'Oh my God, I've got to shore up my notes. I'm putting it all together.' And I'm like, 'Wait, s***. What did he say about going for it?' Because I never want to quote a coach and get it wrong."
To ensure accuracy, Andrews began recording her conversations with coaches a few years ago. "I want to get it exactly right," she stated. "I never want to misquote."
The reporter recounted her hurried return to the broadcast booth, saying, "I literally am standing in front of the camera, and my producer goes, 'Erin, we're gonna come to you first.' Okay great."
She then realized she lacked injury updates and had to quickly find a public relations representative. "Kevin [Burkhardt] and Tom [Brady] are on-air; I'm not near the camera," Andrews said.
Despite her frantic efforts, Andrews made it back to her position just in time to take over from play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, though she admitted to being "fully f***ing out of breath."
Her disorientation continued on air. "I was like, 'And then now to the offense.' And I realize I had just said the offense, and I go, 'Wait, Kev, I just said the offense…' Then they snap the ball, and I go, 'Don't worry, Kev, I'll get it together after this play.'"
Andrews expressed embarrassment over the moment, thinking, "Oh my God, how many people are watching, and I just sh*t down my leg. I'm so much better than that."
However, the hurried nature of her report largely went unnoticed by viewers and did not draw criticism on social media. There was a brief moment of lighthearted banter with Burkhardt before Andrews was able to transition smoothly into the injury updates.
