England midfielder Jordan Henderson was taken to the hospital with a serious wrist injury sustained during his team's post-match celebration after defeating Mexico 3-2 in a World Cup match.

The injury occurred as Henderson attempted to hop over an advertising board, leading to a fall that prompted teammates to call for medical trainers. He was subsequently stretchered off the field.

"I have mixed feelings; I am sad because Jordan injured his wrist and it is quite serious," said coach Thomas Tuchel. "The doctor told me that he is in the hospital."

England secured their victory with goals from Jude Bellingham, who scored twice in quick succession in the first half, and a penalty converted by Harry Kane that extended their lead. The loss marked Mexico's first World Cup defeat at the Estadio Azteca.

"We've done something incredible tonight, no doubt about it, and we'll enjoy it," Bellingham stated after the match. "We'll have a couple of days recovering, then it's straight back to business in terms of facing Norway."

England is scheduled to play Norway in the quarterfinals on Saturday in Miami Gardens, Florida. This report includes information from the Associated Press.
