England's team hotel in Mexico City is set to be protected by a 'ring of steel' as officials aim to prevent a repeat of the disruptive tactics used against Ecuador. Cars, foghorns, fireworks, and loud music were employed to disturb Ecuador's sleep before their match against Mexico, leading to a complaint to FIFA.

Measures are expected to be put in place to ensure the England squad, managed by Thomas Tuchel, does not face similar issues ahead of their last-16 fixture. Discussions are reportedly underway between FIFA and local authorities regarding the implementation of a cordon around England's accommodation. While final decisions are pending, the goal is to ensure the team's preparations are not impacted.

England will not be staying at the same hotel as Ecuador but will be located in a nearby area. The team will also receive a police escort during their stay in the Mexican capital. This enhanced security comes after Ecuador's preparations were marred not only by the disturbances outside their hotel but also by delays at the airport and on the roads.

The upcoming match is anticipated to be a significant event, with approximately 8,000 England tickets sold for the fixture at the 87,523-capacity Azteca Stadium. Around 15,000 England supporters are expected to attend. Officials have indicated there is no current intelligence suggesting England fans will be targeted. Supporters are being encouraged to be respectful of their hosts.

Meanwhile, some England fans are reportedly attempting to profit from ticket sales, with some tickets listed on FIFA's resale portal for prices up to £22,800. More than 70 tickets originally purchased through the England Supporters' Travel Club are reported to be available, with some sellers aiming to recoup their entire trip expenses. Category one tickets have been seen listed for over £51,000.
