Emil Forsberg Expected to Depart Red Bulls After 2027 Season
Swedish outlet Sportbladet reports the star midfielder will return to his native Sweden following the expiration of his contract.

Red Bull New York star Emil Forsberg is expected to leave the club after the 2027 MLS Sprint Season and return to Sweden, according to a report by Swedish outlet Sportbladet. Forsberg's contract was extended through the sprint season next spring, with his current deal set to expire after the conclusion of the 2026 season.
A spokesperson for the Red Bulls offered no comment when contacted by The Post regarding the Swedish report.
Speculation about Forsberg's future began over the summer after he retired from international soccer. In August, Red Bulls head of sport Julian de Guzman told The Post that initial discussions regarding Forsberg's future had not yet taken place.
Forsberg, who joined Red Bull New York in Harrison, N.J., has served as the club's captain. Across all competitions, he has recorded 27 goals and 18 assists during his tenure. This current regular season, he has contributed four goals and eight assists.
Forsberg played a significant role in the team's run to the MLS Cup Final in 2024. The Red Bulls are currently in contention for a playoff spot with two games remaining on their schedule, following a 3-2 loss to the New England Revolution on Wednesday night.
