Elliot Anderson's transfer to Manchester City, valued at approximately £116 million, is anticipated to be officially announced this week. This timing could offer Nottingham Forest a strategic advantage in the current transfer market.

The record-breaking deal, the highest ever for a British player, is expected to be registered in the 2026-27 accounting period if finalized on or after July 1. This financial arrangement is not a cause for concern for Forest regarding Premier League spending rules for the 2025-26 period, and it positions them favorably for the subsequent year.

Nottingham Forest aims to secure at least three or four new signings, with a central midfielder being a priority. Among the players Forest is reportedly monitoring are Liverpool's Curtis Jones, Tottenham's Lucas Bergvall, and Brighton's Jack Hinshelwood, whom the club identified in the previous winter.

Following the sale of Anderson, Forest is confident in retaining key players such as Morgan Gibbs-White, Neco Williams, and Murillo. Murillo recently signed an extended contract, while Gibbs-White is in the second year of a three-year agreement that established him as Forest's highest-paid player. Despite Tottenham's previous attempt to activate a £60 million release clause for Gibbs-White last summer, the midfielder remained with Forest. The club intends to build their team around him for the 2026-27 season.
