El Clasico: Barcelona Aims to Extend Lead Over Real Madrid
Jude Bellingham and Anthony Gordon set to face off as Barcelona hosts Real Madrid in a pivotal El Clasico clash.
Barcelona can extend their lead at the top of La Liga to nine points when they host rivals Real Madrid in the season's first El Clasico on Sunday. The hosts are seeking to maintain a perfect start to their league campaign.
Real Madrid, managed by Jose Mourinho, currently sit third in the table. A loss on Sunday would put them nine points behind Barcelona, a deficit that could significantly impact their title aspirations. This season marks the second consecutive year Real Madrid has not secured a major trophy.
Mourinho's side will be without goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is sidelined with the flu. Andriy Lunin will start in goal for Real Madrid, marking his first appearance of the season. The starting lineup for Real Madrid includes Lunin; Valverde, Konate, Huijsen, Cucurella; Bernardo Silva, Tchouameni; Arda Guler, Bellingham, Diomande; and Mbappe.
Jude Bellingham, a key player for Real Madrid, will be on the field. He has been a prominent figure for the club since his arrival.
Barcelona's attacking force will feature Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Anthony Gordon, who is making his El Clasico debut. The starting XI for Barcelona is Joan García; Xavi Espart, Cubarsi, Gerard Martin, Cancelo; Rodri, Pedri, Fermin Lopez; Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Gordon.
The match is scheduled to kick off with pre-game coverage beginning at 19:03 GMT. Updates will be provided live, detailing the progress of this significant encounter between two of Spain's most storied clubs.
