Ed Sheeran expressed confidence in England's World Cup prospects, stating he believes the team is on track for victory after a private performance for the squad. Sheeran shared his thoughts on the latest episode of Extra Time on YouTube.
The singer performed for the team at their hotel in Kansas City following their final group game against Panama. This visit has become a tradition since 2021, when captain Harry Kane first invited him to join the squad. Sheeran described the bond formed with the team, noting, "Since the first time I played for the lads in 2021 we've bonded, so it's never a tough crowd."
Sheeran performed an acoustic version of his song "Castle On The Hill" by the pool at England's Inn at Meadowbrook hotel. The team's recent performance, a "thrilling 3-2 victory against adversity" at the Estadio Azteca, has set up a quarter-final clash against Norway in Miami.
Following their visit from Sheeran, England secured a 2-1 comeback win against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the round of 32. Looking ahead, Sheeran anticipates an "England-France final," asserting, "I think when you get to the final anyone can win and I think it will be us."
