Eagles Release Andy Dalton After One Pass Intercepted

The Philadelphia Eagles have released veteran quarterback Andy Dalton, who played in just one game for the team and threw a single pass that resulted in an interception. Dalton entered the Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears in the second quarter when starting quarterback Jalen Hurts briefly left due to an injury. At the time, the Eagles were trailing 7-0 and faced third-and-goal from the Bears' 2-yard line.

Dalton's lone pass was intercepted by rookie safety Dillon Thieneman. Following this play, the Eagles promoted Tanner McKee to the backup quarterback position, relegating Dalton to third-string. The team announced his release before departing for London for their next game.

Dalton, 38, joined the Eagles as their sixth NFL team. He spent the first nine seasons of his career as a starter for the Cincinnati Bengals. Since then, he has served as a backup for the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers before signing with Philadelphia.

Dalton has played in 180 NFL games, starting 169 of them. He holds a career record of 84-83-2, with 254 touchdowns and 152 interceptions on 39,793 passing yards, completing 62.6% of his passes. He had started games for every previous NFL team he played for, with the Eagles being the exception.

The Eagles, currently with a 2-2 record, are scheduled to play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday.
