Ben Duckett scored a century to help England recover on the second day of the third Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge. England closed the day at 223-2, trailing the visitors by 215 runs.

This turnaround followed a strong performance by captain Ben Stokes, who took crucial wickets in a determined bowling spell. After New Zealand began the day at 361-4, England managed to dismiss them for 438, taking 10 wickets for 121 runs. Stokes was instrumental, taking three wickets in an eight-over spell. Shoaib Bashir contributed two wickets in one over, and Jofra Archer took another. Archer also struck Blair Tickner with a delivery that resulted in the seamer leaving the match with concussion.

In response, England overcame the early loss of Emilio Gay, who was out for a duck. Duckett, supported by Jacob Bethell, built a significant partnership. Duckett reached his first Test hundred since June of the previous year, ending his innings on 113. Bethell remained unbeaten on 74, his first half-century at home in a Test first innings. Joe Root is at the crease on 21 not out.

New Zealand's initial strong position, with openers Conway and Latham scoring 157 and 151 respectively, was diminished by England's disciplined bowling effort on a challenging day.
