Draymond Green has weighed in on a viral video of Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr telling a fan that the team "got" LeBron James. Green, who declined his $27.7 million player option this summer to provide the Warriors with financial flexibility, suggested Kerr was not being serious.

"If I know Steve as well as I think I do, he was joking," Green posted on Instagram Threads, addressing speculation that the Warriors are contenders in the sweepstakes for James. James is nearing the end of his contract and has been the subject of much free agency speculation.

The Cavaliers, Heat, and 76ers are reportedly the frontrunners to sign James. However, rumors persist that the Warriors could be a dark horse candidate. Golden State's chances may have diminished following reports that the team was unwilling to pursue a trade for Anthony Davis, James' former teammate on the Lakers. A potential deal for Davis could alter the landscape of the free agency pursuit.

James is expected to announce his decision in the coming days. Steve Kerr on the sidelines
