Draymond Green Addresses Kristaps Porzingis Trade Rumors Amid Health Concerns
Warriors star discusses teammate's ongoing absence and potential trade, expressing well wishes.
Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green has commented on the trade rumors surrounding teammate Kristaps Porzingis, who has been sidelined for several months due to an undisclosed health issue. Green discussed the situation on his podcast, acknowledging the news and its impact on the team.
"I wouldn't necessarily say the news was a distraction yesterday more so than like you kind of have forgot about it," Green said, according to a report from the New York Post. "We’ve gone a whole training camp and preseason without him, so you've kind of just got accustomed to the guys who were there and then that news comes out and it just makes you think about it again."
Green acknowledged the report from Shams Charania, who indicated the Warriors are exploring trade possibilities for Porzingis. "Shams knows better than we do, so we'll see what happens," Green stated. He also expressed his personal hopes for Porzingis's well-being, regardless of his future with the team.
"I still wish him well. I hope he's healthy. I hope he can get himself to a space health-wise that he feels great about, whether he plays basketball or not, it's not my concern. I just always want people in good health. Having bad health sucks," Green added.
Porzingis's absence has been a significant challenge for the Warriors. Standing as the team's only player over 7 feet tall, his ability to stretch the floor, rebound, and provide defensive presence has been missed. The Warriors signed Porzingis to a two-year, $40 million extension in the offseason, reportedly aware of his existing health issues. The ongoing mysterious illness has raised concerns about whether Porzingis might have to end his basketball career.
