Canadian rapper Drake has placed a $1 million bet on mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor to win his upcoming UFC return against Max Holloway at UFC 329 in Las Vegas. The fight marks McGregor's first appearance in the octagon in nearly five years.
If McGregor is successful, Drake stands to win $2.85 million. The rapper revealed the bet on Instagram. Drake's history with large wagers has sometimes been associated with what fans refer to as the "Drake Curse," a perceived trend where athletes or teams he publicly supports experience misfortune.
Recently, Drake had a successful bet of $1 million on Canada to win a soccer match during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He also made a $1 bet against Canada in a subsequent match, winning $1 in an attempt to counteract the "curse" for his national team. However, his bets on hockey teams have not yielded similar success, with unsuccessful wagers on the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL resulting in combined losses of $1.5 million.
McGregor's last UFC fight was in 2021 at UFC 264, where he suffered a significant leg break. Holloway, his opponent, has lost two of his last three bouts, most recently to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326 in March.
