The Los Angeles Dodgers routed the San Diego Padres 15-3 on Saturday night, powered by a nine-run sixth inning that tied their second-highest scoring inning of the season. The decisive rally at Petco Park evened the series between the National League West rivals.

After being tied with the Padres through five innings, the Dodgers' offense erupted against San Diego right-hander Randy Vásquez. Twelve batters came to the plate in the sixth, with eight reaching safely and three hitting home runs. The offensive barrage included an RBI error by the Padres, an RBI triple from Tommy Edman, back-to-back home runs from Kyle Tucker and Dalton Rushing, and a three-run blast from Mookie Betts.

"We were taking good at-bats throughout the game and then just exploded in that inning," Edman said. "It’s just a good indication of how good our offense is."

Manager Dave Roberts described the outburst as "fun to see." The Dodgers added four more runs in the eighth and another in the ninth to match their most runs scored in a game at Petco Park.

The strong offensive support was a welcome sight for Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who had a strong outing. Yamamoto allowed two runs over six innings, improving his record to 8-5 and lowering his ERA to 2.67. In five of his last six starts, the Dodgers offense has scored at least five runs, with Saturday’s game marking the most runs scored with Yamamoto on the mound in his career.

Edman has been a key contributor since returning from ankle surgery, batting .379 with a .972 OPS in his first nine games back. "I feel like this is one of the rare times where both swings feel good," Edman said. "It’s really tough to maintain both swings over the course of the season, so just happy that I feel that way right now."

Dalton Rushing, who had been in a slump, snapped an 0-for-13 skid with his home run in the sixth inning. It was his first long ball since April 20.

The Dodgers will look to win the rubber match of the series on Sunday afternoon, with Emmet Sheehan slated to start against Padres ace Michael King.
