Dodgers Catcher Will Smith's Wife Welcomes Third Child Ahead of NLCS Game 3

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith is celebrating the arrival of his third daughter, Carter, who was born on Wednesday, October 23. The birth occurred just before the Dodgers were set to play Game 3 of the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers. Smith's wife, Cara, shared the news on Instagram, noting that all three of their children have now been born in October.

Carter is the couple's third daughter. Their eldest, Charlotte, was born in 2022, followed by Layton in October 2024. The arrival of their third child comes as the Dodgers trail the Brewers 2-0 in the best-of-seven series.

This personal event for Smith coincides with a challenging stretch for the Dodgers in the postseason. Smith himself has struggled at the plate, recording only one hit in 19 at-bats with eight strikeouts this postseason. Other key players, including Shohei Ohtani, have also faced offensive difficulties.

Despite his personal news and recent performance, Smith is expected to be behind the plate for Game 3, catching pitcher Blake Snell. Manager Dave Roberts has placed Smith in the lineup hitting seventh, directly behind Ohtani, who will serve as the designated hitter in the sixth spot. The Dodgers are aiming to rebound in Game 3 to avoid falling into a 3-0 series deficit against the Brewers, who have posted the best record in baseball this season.
