Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington's late August social media posts seemingly foreshadowing a significant game against the Indiana Fever did not unfold as anticipated. On Sunday, Aug. 23, the Fever defeated the Sky 113-90, with Fever star Caitlin Clark scoring 37 points and hitting eight 3-pointers.

Carrington had posted "8/23" on her X account and alluded to "white privilege" on Threads in the wake of a Flagrant 2 foul she received for a play on Indiana's Sophie Cunningham during an Aug. 8 game. The Sky guard's performance in the Aug. 23 matchup against the Fever was subdued. Carrington recorded seven points on 3-of-11 shooting from the field, with one assist and one block in 18 minutes played. She finished with a minus-5 plus/minus rating off the bench.

In contrast, Clark was highly effective, making 13 of her 24 field goal attempts, including 8 of 12 from beyond the arc. Kelsey Mitchell also contributed significantly for the Fever with 30 points on 10-of-19 shooting, including six 3-pointers.

The Indiana Fever secured a playoff spot with the victory, bringing their record to 25-14. They are currently fifth in the WNBA standings. The Chicago Sky, with a record of 15-23, have been eliminated from playoff contention.
