Derek Jeter made a lighthearted jab at sports media personality Colin Cowherd on Monday, referencing a factual error Cowherd made during a previous interview.

During an appearance on "The Herd," Jeter reminded Cowherd that he once incorrectly stated Jeter played in the "Nolan Ryan era." Jeter clarified that he played long after Ryan's career concluded. "Before we get started, I just want to remind you, you just said smart people make mistakes,” Jeter said. “Last time I was on your show, you asked me about facing Nolan Ryan. Let’s just hope you got your facts straight this time.”

Cowherd responded with laughter, acknowledging the jest. The exchange recalled a moment from two years ago when Cowherd mistakenly suggested Jeter and Ryan overlapped in their careers. Jeter, who debuted with the Yankees in 1995 and reached his prime in the late 1990s and 2000s, was significantly removed from Nolan Ryan's pitching career, which spanned from 1966 to 1993, with his peak years in the 1970s and 1980s.

Jeter's appearance on "The Herd" was to discuss Major League Baseball, including the current state of the game and the Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) system. He expressed support for the ABS system, noting that he felt his own hitting accuracy would have been well-suited for it during his playing days.

Since retiring from baseball, Jeter has transitioned into sports media, working as a studio analyst for Fox Sports and making regular appearances on MLB pregame and postgame shows. IMAGE1
