Following the latest round of Premier League matches, BBC football pundit Troy Deeney has revealed his team of the week, highlighting standout individual performances.
In goal, Deeney selected Gianluigi Donnarumma of Manchester City. He noted Donnarumma's crucial saves in the match against Manchester United, stating the goalkeeper secured two extra points for his team and is capable of earning them ten points over the season.
The defensive unit features Daniel Munoz of Nottingham Forest, praised for his pace, power, and contributions at both ends of the pitch during the win at Aston Villa. Ezri Konsa of Arsenal is recognized for his strong defensive display against Sunderland, particularly his handling of a penalty incident. Lewis Dunk of Brighton earns a spot for his memorable strike in the match against Coventry. Rounding out the defense is Tarik Muharemovic of Leeds United, described as a "beast" for his commanding presence despite not keeping a clean sheet against Newcastle.
In midfield, Enzo Fernandez of Manchester City is included for what Deeney described as his best game in two years against Manchester United, acting as a catalyst for the team. Pascal Gross of Brighton is acknowledged for his steadying influence, providing a goal and an assist in a young Brighton team, especially in the absence of other key players.
The attacking selections include Kevin Schade of Brentford, who scored twice against Bournemouth and is noted for his pace, power, and goal-scoring ability. Mohamed Belloumi of Hull City is recognized for stepping up to the Premier League, scoring twice in the match against Chelsea. Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Leeds United is selected for his consistent performance against Newcastle, scoring one goal and demonstrating a strong mentality.
For manager of the week, Deeney gave an honourable mention to Mikel Arteta of Arsenal for getting the job done away from home. However, he ultimately selected Enzo Maresca of Manchester City. Deeney acknowledged that while not his biggest fan, Maresca made tactically astute decisions at Old Trafford, providing his team with the optimal platform to secure the win. A brave substitution of Cherki for Ndiaye was also highlighted.
