The San Francisco 49ers have signed wide receiver Deebo Samuel to a one-year contract worth $7 million, according to sources familiar with the situation. The move comes as the team faces a growing number of injuries at the receiver position, including recent setbacks for Ricky Pearsall and Christian Kirk.

Samuel, who previously played for the 49ers from 2019 to 2024, will rejoin the team to help bolster their receiving corps. During his tenure with San Francisco, Samuel recorded 334 receptions for 4,792 yards and 22 touchdowns. He departed the 49ers last season to sign with the Commanders.

Given the current injury situation within the 49ers' receiving unit, Samuel is expected to assume a significant role upon his return. The team hopes his experience and production will help mitigate the impact of the injured players during training camp and the upcoming season.
