San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has shared a video of himself working out at the team's practice facility, signaling a potential return to action. This development comes as the 49ers prepare to play the Raiders on Sunday.
Samuel has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury in the Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Before his injury, the versatile player had recorded 16 receptions for 206 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to nine rushes for 78 yards.
His possible return could provide a much-needed boost to the 49ers' receiver corps, which has been dealing with other injuries. Wide receiver Mike Evans is reportedly at risk of missing a second consecutive week due to an Achilles injury. Additionally, rookie De’Zhaun Stribling has been out since the season opener, and Ricky Pearsall and Christian Kirk are also dealing with injuries.
Samuel, a key player for the 49ers, spent his first six seasons with the team, including a 1,405-yard receiving season in 2021. After the 2024 season, he was traded to the Commanders, where he accumulated 727 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
A decision on Samuel's availability for Sunday's game is expected later this week. The 49ers will host the Raiders at Levi’s Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 1:25 p.m.
