Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi stated he is "not angry" and feels "no panic" following his team's second consecutive loss, which leaves them at the bottom of the Premier League table. The defeat against Newcastle, with goals from Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa in the second half, mirrored familiar frustrations for the club's supporters. The team has secured only three home league wins in their last 23 matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This season was anticipated to be different for Tottenham, especially after investing over £300 million in the summer. Fans expected a push for European qualification, building on their Europa League win two seasons prior and a Champions League last-16 appearance in March. Instead, the club currently sits 20th in the Premier League after two games played, with no points and no goals scored.

"We can improve in the defensive phases but today was an unfair result," De Zerbi commented. "Disappointed for the result because until the first goal we conceded, we played better than Newcastle. We are disappointed for the result and [for] our fans. We are working to be a great team. When we become a team, we can change the story of the last two seasons for Tottenham."
